Gotcha!
Introducing a fun little minigame that will be played on the side of regular mafia games in August: GOTCHA™!
In this game, every participant will have a target.
They will have to sneakily assissinate that target.
With guns? With poison? With lynches?
No... with words.
How the game works:
- You pick 1 word, out of the 3 options you get in the pm sent to you on 29 July.
- Your target, that is shared in the same pm, has to say that word in a mafia-related chatroom (ps Mafia room, these forums, mafia related discord channels, groupchats for scumchat, …), or in the pms of one of these media.
- When the target does say that work, you yell “GOTCHA”! Then you share a screenshot of the moment of assassination in this thread. Then everyone gets a chance to poke fun at the eliminated person.
- After you have eliminated your target, you take over their target with their word.
- This continues until all but 1 player die. That players ends up as the great winner! If there are multiple people left on Saturday the 31st of August, the game ends then and those people tie.
- To prevent people from being stuck on someone who figured out who is targeting them, you are able to have your target replaced every week. The targets get shuffled between every person who apply (anonymously) for this, and they get a choice of 3 new words.

To join this minigame, you can simply type in in this thread.
Signups started on this thread's creation, and were open until the 29th of July, 2 pm EST.
After that, you get your pm with your target, and your choice for words. You must respond to that pm and pick your word before 31st of July 11:59 pm in order to participate.
Why are the signups open for so long?
Because im leaving on the 12th of July on a vacation until the 28th, and I will hardly be able to moderate this in the meantime.
I'll be able to answer questions before and after then.

Participation rules:
• Activity in the mafia chatrooms is required! As a minimum, you must participate in 5 official games per weekly cycle, on your main account. It's impossible for someone who has you as a target to advance otherwise. If you think your target did not meet this criterium for a week, you can contact me, I’ll try to have auth cooperate to get logs from that person to check.
• Don’t ignore people! Of course you don’t want to be eliminated, but ignoring every participants removes all the fun. If you suspect someone has you as their target, just be mindful of what you say to them.
• Don’t reveal your word/target to anyone in game, or to anyone who can reveal this to people in the game! Even if they aren’t your target, they then know that there’s 1 person less that they need to suspect, making the others more suspicious from POE.
• When making customs setups, you can only include your Gotcha-word once in it.
• When eliminated, you must pass your target and word to your assassin. Be honest and cooperative when doing so.
• Do not make fake logs to kill anyone.
• Don’t try to eliminate people after your death.
• Do not try to exploit any loopholes and technicalities, nor attempt to circumvent the rules.
• Host’s word is law, if any disputes come up later, you must listen to my solution and accept it.

Weekly Cycles:
It's possible to accidentally reveal your word/target, by not being subtle enough.
I want to encourage everyone to be proactive in this, and try to manipulate their target to say the word, without having the fear to be stuck forever on a target.
To do so, everyone gets a failsafe: weekly recycles for words and targets.
There will be 4 cycles, which will be in the following period (EST)
- Cycle 1: Thursday August 1 - Saturday August 10
- Cycle 2: Sunday August 11 - Saturday August 17
- Cycle 3: Sunday August 18 - Saturday August 24
- Cycle 4: Sunday August 25 - Saturday August 31
Cycles always shift at midnight EST.
New target and new word choices will be sent on every Thursday (Thursday 08/08 for Cycle 1).
Select a new word or target to be able to kill someone, before the cycle starts. If you are late with choosing a target, you can only kill your target starting 1 hour after making your pick.
You pick your new word during the PREVIOUS cycle.
You still use your original word/target untill the end of the cycle, and THEN you are allowed to use your new target/word.
After a cycle ends, you can no longer kill your original target from that cycle.
