The Walrus Up North *Terms & Conditions apply. Not liable for any designations of Trash Taste - that designation is fully responsible to those who submit Trash songs & Spiderz by default.
Greetings. For most of you, Russia is unfamiliar territory. I, Agent Codename Gimmick, have been tasked with spotting the best recruit for this musical advent into the wonderland of the North.
This mission - codename W-A-L-R-U-S - is a test determined to weed out the weak & prepare the new cadets for the grueling mission ahead. Do you have what it takes to prove your worthiness in the face of adversity? Do you have what it takes to fit in with the true Russians? Do you have enough taste to not get drowned out by the harsh taste of Vodka & Selodka?
Davail, patsani, & I'll find that out!
For the freshly arrived, a Walrus is a musical competition in which the host - Me - provides several categories of music & the players - You - will send a single song for every category. I will rank them on a scale of 0-10 with up to 5 points for matching the category and 5 points for how much I personally enjoy the song.
The goal of this Walrus is to get me into more English music as I primarily listen to Russian and the occasional Ukranian tracks. A bit on my taste:
I came from a household in Russia & moved to the States when I was young. Due to my heritage I enjoy traditional, folk, homey music.
That being said, my favorite genre is actually either metal or hip-hop. I am alright with pop. Weeb music doesn't fly here in the cold.
I vastly prefer hard-hitting, fast-paced, certified bangers over low, slow, melancholy vibes - but there's a time and place for everything in this Walrus.
Surprise me. I have listened to some select English artists over my time, but if I've heard it before, I likely will notch it down a couple points.

11. Final Gambit - This is a bit of a unique submission. Now that you've gotten to know my tastes a bit better, I will only ask you to submit this after the other categories have been completed. A redux of send me a song you know I'll like. A bonus point or two if it's in Russian. See #4.
7.8/10 - This is actually my first time listening to the full song & memes conditioned me to assume this song would be Trash. I was wrong, and it is actually pretty decent. The lyrics are quite suiting for the category & the message is there. We respect poptimists.
8/10 - Nice song with a good beat. Nice submit, derz. If anyone calls me out for putting this shit high I'll whip out my pavlovian defense of not knowing the history of rap in its entirety - it's still a catchy rap song.
