In some game modes or when a shortage of players occurs (or it is just a small game), mafia may use the tactic to claim cop or counter-claim the cop, the latter is usually represented by "cc". This will confuse town since the town doesn't want to lynch because they may accidentally lynch the cop, which most of the time town agrees is a terrible thing. However, is it a good thing to not lynch anyways? There are many things you could look at when scumhunting, such as results both cops get, how they are both acting, if they are genuine, is there a distinct partner (or partners) you can see following them which would make them mafia, etc. In this thread, discuss on how people should act (from different point of views/sides), should a lynch be held, etc. Be sure to think about: - If it's Day 1 or further
- Should everyone lynch or nl (depending on mylo/lylo/no threat situations)
- Claimed results
- Tailing partners
- Past actions (if any)
- Ferocity/genuineness
- Claims to clear themselves
- How should the mafia act in a standard counter-cop claim situation
- How should the actual cop act
- How should the town act
Note: : You shouldn't just answer these questions/topics, but they are guidelines on how to begin discussion. Don't be afraid to throw your own idea up there that I didn't include (since I wrote this mid-class) Format stolen from champetero to make it easier (thanks :])

Day one, the town should NL. Sometimes it's pretty obvious by day 2 who the mafia is based on their actions. If it isn't and it's a small game, I think that it's a pretty good idea to lynch. If the person turns cop, the other person gets lynched, and there is usually only one more maf to go, at which point there are few players left and scumhunting isn't usually too difficult. If the person turns up maf, then the cop can pretty much end the game.
Deciding who to lynch is somewhat difficult. If an accused person flips out and starts cussing off the town during a bandwagon, then that person is most likely town, contrary to common belief. The order of the claims usually doesn't mean much, although I haven't payed much attention to second- and third- day claims. If a person claims cop while being bandwagoned, though, then that person is likely mafia. If a cop inspects his/her CC, I've found that that isn't scummy, actually. The occasional cop that makes that stupid choice usually turns up town.
So that's my cop claim analysis.

Cops should always cross-investigate whoever the other investigated. If Drookez got rssp as town, and Igpay got AJ as town, Drookez should inv AJ and Igpay should inv rssp. This makes it so you have at least one clear person. The doc should go on either rssp or AJ in that situation, since if either Drookez or Igpay is killed, the other is confo scum.
If doc makes a save n1 in 7p classic, you lynch between cops because instead of the regular kill bringing it to mylo, you have a free mislynch. If you lynch correctly, then it's often auto win, and if you lynch incorrectly, you have a confirmed scum and it usually goes to 3p lylo. Anyways, doc should always claim if he saves someone. If there is a cc to the doc along with the cop cc, both villies are clear.

In Fancy Pants setup: Never claim cop on D1. Only do so on D2. If you get a Maf inspect N0, then some cops try to soft this by being a lone voter on someone in the crowd of NLers D1. Anti-meta strats by Mafia doing this are hindered by anti-anti-meta strats of villies doing so to distract a kill. It requires the villy to be a good guesser of the scumbased on the identity of the deceased individual, however. Most cross cop claims occur on D2. It's a good idea to have your investigations copied for pasting into the chat as soon as D2 begins. If someone innos their investigation while doing this, they are scum (obv). Do NOT give one of the cop claims credibility based on inno'ing you. Be very wary of someone who inspected someone N0 as town who died N1. If both cops "agree" that someone is scum based on their investigations, they are confirmed scum. For example, In a game where 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are alive on D2, and 1 is cop, 4 and 5 are maf, and the other two are villies, and 1 says 5 is guilty and 3 is inno, and 4 says 2 and 3 are innocent, then both cops agree that, by process of elimination in cop 4's inspects, that 5 is confirmed mafia. The next day, it is a standard 50/50 1v2 LyLo. If the bomb activates N1 and the cop is still alive then, then it's GG town.

Never follow either cop claim in 6p Classic. If you have to, follow the one that DOESN'T claim a mafia inspect. See Sanjana and Snaq bussing in the quotes thread for the reasoning. If both claim mafia inspects, NL and let the game progress to day 2.
