Passrus/Saltrus 2020: Legacy
Music. Some people love it, other people are wrong. It’s a unique form of media where you hear pretty sounds, and words over the pretty sounds. It can be one of the most expressive things on the planet. And with that, people have opinions on music, and some people judge other people’s music opinions. That’s what a walrus is, for the uninitiated, where you submit songs for me, and I judge them. Each song you submit has to fit into an assigned category. I’ll explain the point system and the extras after I reveal the categories.

So, you may be asking. What theme would Pass have to his walrus, is it just going to be lyrics to Cha Cha slide? No it isn’t, though that was my first idea. As you may have seen in the title, the theme to this walrus is ‘Legacy’. A story of the ups and downs of a guy, not anyone in particular, just a guy. It’ll make more ( or less) sense as we go along. So let’s get along!
CATEGORY ONE- Birth/ New beginnings.
This is the start of ones journey in life. It all begins here, a clean slate.
I want songs about birth, or rebirth. Whether it be about a new child in the world, or about a person starting over with their life.
CATEGORY TWO- A simpler time
At such a young age, there is nothing to worry about besides eating and sleeping, everything is incredibly basic, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Give me acoustic songs, or unplugged songs. Acoustic is a song with no use of electric instruments with zero distortion. Unplugged is a song with 0 use of anything electronic and no real production used, it’s commonly used for special albums and live versions.
CATEGORY THREE-The best time to be alive.
This is it, elementary school. The point in your life where you truly peak. It can’t get any better than this.
You know I had to do it, of course I had to had the infamous pander cat. I want you to make this walrus enjoyable for me. Standard pander cat, familiarity (which I will touch on later) does not apply.
CATEGORY FOUR- Young Love
Ah yes, the worst time to be alive, highschool. A normal day is awkward enough already, but worse than that, is Prom. A nightmare for most, but a sweet time for those lucky few who have people to dance with.
One of my broadest and most simplistic categories, just give me a silly love song. Songs about loving another person, or even ballads of love songs about two people in love
CATEGORY FIVE- A long hard journey
The path to success is tedious one, even more so it’s a long one. A path that most don’t ever see the end of.
For this category I want songs that, like the path to success, are long. I want songs longer than five minutes!
CATEGORY SIX- Fame
You’ve made it, everyone knows your name. You finally hit it big!
Wow you are about to see a lot of simple categories. Give me songs that are about being famous/ popular.
CATEGORY SEVEN- The Peak
This is it, you are at the peak, looking down at everyone who could only ever hope to ever be half as good as you.
This isn’t necessarily ‘Submit your favorite song’ it’s more or less, submit what you think one of the best songs is. Submit a song that will blow me away with its beauty and the small details in it that give it so much power. A grand ballad or the peak of music, something complicated. An iconic song that will immortalize the artist/band that did it.
CATEGORY EIGHT- Nowhere to go but down
It couldn't get any better, no matter how hard you tried. It only got worse. But if your fans find out, they might turn against you, you need to just fight through it.
Give me deceivingly happy songs. Songs with an upbeat beat, but depressing lyrics, or lyrics that just aren’t that happy.
CATEGORY NINE- Fade away into obscurity.
They saw through you. You can’t deceive others, not when you couldn’t deceive yourself. And here you are, the villain of your own story. You’ll be left in the dirt and forgotten.
Give me songs that have less than 300k views on YouTube, or songs by a band with less than 300k monthly listeners on Spotify.
CATEGORY TEN-Denial
So, this is it huh? It’s all over? This can’t be the end, it’s just a terrible nightmare, that you’ll wake up from soon enough.
Give me surreal and mystifying songs, songs that sound dreamlike or songs that sound surreal. Give me the feeling that I’m floating in space.
CATEGORY ELEVEN- Anger
Why you though? It isn’t fair! But is life ever fair?
Its as the title says, give me angry songs, or at least songs that are heavy, and brutal.
CATEGORY TWELVE- Bargaining
Maybe there’s a way out of this, maybe if I can just give someone something, or talk my way out of this.
Submit your favorite song, and tell me why it’s your favorite song. Fairly Simple
CATEGORY THIRTEEN- Depression
How can you cope with this? It’s just too much. It’s too soon
Earlier I asked you to give me songs that sound happy but are actually sad. Now give me songs that sound sad and are even sadder. Make me cry.
CATEGORY FOURTEEN- Acceptance
Well, everyone has their time. And this just happened to be yours. No more dwelling on what you could’ve done better, because you can’t go back in time.
Give me peaceful and serene songs Something that can put a smile on my face, or mellow my soul.
CATEGORY FIFTEEN- Legacy
Even with a fall, there will be a rise again after death. Because even if you die, other people’s memories won’t.
The requirements for this cat will be revealed after everyone subs have been finalized.
Rules and Restrictions
Rule 1 Familiarity- Probably the thing everyone wants to know the most about, familiarity is fairly simple, -1 points if sub a song that’s on my playlist. I’ll link the playlist Here, and for those who don’t have Spotify I will post a picture of all the songs in a special channel in the walrus discord.
Rule 2 Discord/Examples- More than anything these a guidelines and not really rules, but it doesn’t really matter. This is just saying that the discord (and the examples songs in the discord) will be revealed next week when I start signups.
Rule 3 Reveal orders- and here we have how the reveals will work!! My hopes are for reveals that reveal times will be 8pm to 10pm est Saturday and Sundays for double reveals each day (this may be subject to change, depending on if there are anything other ongoing walruses). The reveal order will be, 4th to last score-4th score, then it will alternate from 3rd to last,3rd,2nd to last, 2nd,Last,First (so like 7,6,5,4,8,3,9,2,10,1)
Rule 4 Signups- Another thing I have to say, first thing off, signups officially start next week (when you can start subbing cats to me) though if you can I’d love to see how many want in or want to be a spectator, so I can have an early headcount (and if you have any questions PM me on discord PassTheSaltDude#0757)
Rule 5 Scoring- And last, but not least, scoring! This is just a rundown of how I’ll score each song. I’ll listen to each song at least 3 times each, each song automatically gets +1 point for not being familiar (unless it is) it then gets 4 points based on how well it fits the cat (0 it didn’t at all, 1 It did not almost at all but had one redeeming factor, 2 it barely fit and almost doesn’t work, 3 it’s a good cat fit, 4 it’s the perfect cat fit. Decimals will be used to break ties) It then gets 5 points on how much I liked it ( 0 you subbed 100 gecs, 1 I was not a fan and didn’t want to listen to it more than once, 2 it was fine but it wasn’t the best, 3 I really enjoyed it, 4 I loved it a lot, 5 this is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Decimals will be used to break
