Adam - Frances Quinlan (Hop Along) - Carry The Zero (Built To Spill): 6.4 / 10
I'm not sure if it's because I listened to this just as I got up or what, but I'm not too hot on the vocals here. They just kinda annoy me, and despite me enjoying guitar (And everything other than the vocal delivery), the vocal delivery is what is supposed to carry the song, so when it starts annoying me, the song drops hard.
What a fun and exciting twist of failure: Turning drug addiction and letting everyone around you down into a trashy party track. I am such a fan of the vocal delivery here, especially in the chorus, which sticks in your head so hard here. The "sunshine, blue sky, cheap high" part is stuck in my head because of how good it sounds
This is like, a perfect cat fit and I really like the keys loop that goes on through the entire song. I think the part I like the most is just how on the nose the lyrics are, and it feels like it captures a lot of the feelings I had whilst writing up the category itself, which makes it more relatable than something of this, like, idea would be.
Amy Ampharos Mixolydia etc - Story 2 by clipping.: 9.5 / 10
This is not where I thought this song would go. As the song starts, it feels like it gets slightly faster each time the bar restarts, as clipping.'s story goes further and further, as the realization that something's wrong goes the song paces faster and faster and faster as the story starts to climax and you see how Mike failed - he got there too late. It's a spectacle of pacing, storytelling and music that creates a shot of adrenaline that keeps you on edge.
