Welcome to the Mafia 10 Year Anniversary Event!
As you all may or may not know, 2013 was the year our Mafia community was created. Over the course of these 10 years, our community has grown and changed in many ways. Now, at our 10 year milestone, we wanted to create something special to be celebrated with our entire community over the years.
To celebrate our 10th year, we’re going to be hosting a variety of events, while also giving you, our community, the opportunity to be a part of the creation of some events!
Event Details:
Throughout the year, this section will get larger as we introduce more types of events.
Official Game Events:
Every month, we’ll have a special official game, or we’ll host a special theme for you all 2-3 times. These themes will generally be more fun / less hard focused on balance (though still balanced). These official games will be worth 4x the normal points!
Newsletters:
Every month, we’ll also release a newsletter that can have anything we’d like to talk about happening in the room. This can range from the official game event, to interviews from past lifetime achievement / official winners / any other influential users, puzzles, guides to mafia, and more!
Workshops:
After a very long time without having any workshops, we’re going to host some workshops again periodically throughout the year! Workshops are staff guides on any topic related to Mafia, with the opportunity available to ask any additional questions.
Fair Week:
In October or November we'll host a Mafia Fair Week to celebrate the room actually existing 10 years. This week will be dense on events, which should be easy to join and feel very celebratory. Nothing too serious. Possible things that we can do here are contests and raffles. It's a bit further away but it'd be lovely if you had ideas for it! As it’s still far away, it’s also a bit vague still for us. More on this later in the year!
Other Events:
We will host many other events this year! But they are not as regularly planned as the Newsletters and the Official Game Events. We’ll give some examples here, but be aware that we are very open to different ideas!
Forum games! We will try to host a few NOCs, OCs, and Social Games throughout the year and get that more active again!
Theme weeks or days. A potential idea is to have a week/day with its own competition, leaderboard, etc. and focusing on some particular aspects of Mafia.
Casual events: a Trivia event, a Scavenger Hunt, or a different game themed around Mafia!
Gameshows: something similar to “Do You Know… The Mafia Room”. Large-scale high-effort event that could be considered a scale-up from a normal casual event. Have a few people… or the entire room if you can figure out how… compete!
Get Involved:
Generic Events:
We would like this year to be very celebratory in nature! This is a lot of work, so we would appreciate anyone’s help! Anyone will be allowed to assist in the events, or even to think of one.
If you have an idea for an event, you can approach any staff member (or event host) about it. If they would like to host this event as well, then you set up a generic plan of what you want to do (What is it? When would it be? Who is hosting? What resources do you need, if any?). The staff member will then propose this plan to a host (Alexander489, micromorphic, Spiderz, Snaquaza), who will most likely approve the event and ensure its planning does not interfere with other events.
The staff member(s) on the team will then be responsible for the event being organized, but any number of voices / regs can be involved in planning! The staff member does not have to lead the organization internally (but will be responsible) to the hosts.

Newsletter:
If you want to write an article for the newsletter, reach out to ForgotToFlush or Snaquaza. They will help you get started writing!
For the newsletter, consider articles like a deep dive on a theme, an analysis of a particularly fun game, a guide of how to play / host / do something in particular. , a discussion on how to create a good theme, a dissertation on what types of different players exist, unique ways to scumhunt that you should try…. Or a puzzle page! A lot of things are fine!
Official Game Events:
Official game events are relatively exclusive, and thus there’s a large chance not every idea can make it in. If you have an idea you think is good though, reach out to a host (Alexander489, micromorphic, Spiderz, Snaquaza) and they will get back to you if they want your idea as an official game event.
Forum Games:
While forum games will be considered as events within the 10 years of mafia event, and we will try to get them running consistently this year, there’s a board on the Forums to make a game proposal. There’s also a queue there. Post here and we’ll get back to you: ps-mafia.proboards.com/board/11/game-proposals
Minigames:
Minigames can also be hosted on the forums: ps-mafia.proboards.com/board/22/minigames .
They generally are not or tangentially related to Mafia, and can be anything from a PS! Mafia Minecraft server, to a Cards Against Humanity forum game. Staff will only moderate these when there’s too much of one type: at that point we’ll start a queue. If there’s no queue, you can assume you’re free to host it!
You can look around the board for inspiration! If you’re not sure if something is suitable (maybe it’s large enough to be a normal event / game?), feel free to reach out to a host. If something does end up being unsuitable, we’ll just remove it from the minigames but try to help you set it up regardless.
