Training Mafia: The Animal Kingdom
The purpose of this game is to provide a learning environment for those who are interested in learning to play Mafia or learning to play Mafia in a forum setting. Each player will be have a mentor (who may be from PS! or another site) who can provide tips/correspondence. It should hopefully be a fun way to introduce players from the server to a forum environment and invite players from other communities as well!
This game uses a closed setup, which means the list of roles is not known. The following things are confirmed:
1. The setup is not considered Bastard by any standards.
1a. This means that there are no hidden modifiers or roles. Everyone is what their role PM says they are.
2. There are a non-zero number of vanilla roles.
3. Players will flip with their full role PMs upon death.
4. Flavor has no bearing on alignment or role.
5. The Mafia's factional kill is assigned (it must be carried out by a specific player each night and thus can be blocked and detected).
6. Players are not informed if their action fails or is redirected. Any investigative roles will receive results about "your target" as opposed to a player's name. (Example: "Your target is not aligned with the Mafia" as opposed to "Fenrir is not aligned with the Mafia.")
7. Players may not self-target with any ability unless their role PM states otherwise.
8. Like most games hosted on PS!, this game will use Natural Action Resolution.
9. Any players who can communicate outside of the game thread can do so during the day as well as at night.
10. The Animal Kingdom is the town and the Invasive Species are the Mafia. There may or may not be third parties.
RULES:
0. The host's word is law. I reserve the right to modkill or sub anyone out who breaks or attempts to bend the rules.
1. You can only talk about the game in the game thread unless specified otherwise. Once you are dead you cannot talk to anyone about the game. Knowledge acquired after death cannot be transferred from a dead player to a living player. You can, however, make a "bah" post within 24 hours after your death starting with "N" and a reasonable amount of "O"s. You can also talk about how sad you are, but this post must be content-less.
1.5. Outside influences (eg. Threatening, bribes, wagers, promises, alliances, trust tells) are not tolerated and will be dealt with severely. If you are approached by someone who wants to discuss the game outside of the game thread (aside from your mentor/mentee), please inform the host.
2. Every user has a role PM. Role PMs may not be shown to other users at any time. All forms of sharing of role PMs are banned. If anyone finds a person encouraging others to share their role PMs or sharing role PMs themselves, please inform the host.
3. Each in-game day will have a deadline of 48 hours. You may vote to lynch users during the day by posting “vote USER” or “lynch USER” in bold. You may also vote to “No Lynch." (Votes will not count if they are not bolded.) The day will end at the end of the 48 hours or when a player is hammered due to majority. Plurality will decide the lynch if there is no majority at EoD, and nobody will be lynched if there are no votes. It would be nice if you wanted to “unlynch/unvote USER", but it is not necessary. Do not edit your previous post to remove the “Lynch/Vote USER”.
3.5. If there is a tie for the player with the most votes at the end of the day, the player who reached that number of votes first will be lynched.
4. Each in-game night will have a deadline of 24 hours. During the night phase, any players with night roles must PM the host who they would like target. This can be sent through Skype, Discord, Showdown, or here on the forums, so long as it is a PM that no other players will be able to see.
5. Do not edit your post. If you need to correct something, make another post.
6. Only sign up if you know you're going to be at least fairly active. If you do not post/are not active for 24 hours, you will be prodded. If you fail to post 24 hours after the previous prod or you recieve more than 2 prods, you will be subbed out. If you know you are going to be away, inform the host beforehand if able.
7. Do not try to exploit any loopholes or circumvent the rules.
8. Discussion is not allowed during the Twilight phase (after deadline/hammer but before the host has announced it).
9. It would be wise if you were to be cautious about what you do!
THEME SPECIFIC RULES:
1. Mentors are not here to play the game for their mentees, but I trust your discretion in how much guidance you provide. If you are uncertain, don't hesitate to PM and ask.
2. Mentors are not permitted to make serious posts in the thread unless given permission.
3. Don't hesitate to let a host know if you feel your mentor/mentee is treating you inappropriately.
4. Each mentor/mentee pair will receive a Discord groupchat, which will be revealed publicly at the end of the game. The pair will also have access to the mentee's role PM. Note that only mentees may submit night actions (though they are of course free to discuss them with mentors).
4a. A Discord channel will be created for the scumteam to communicate, and the scumteam's mentors will have access to this channel.
5. A list of mentor/mentee pairings will be made public before the game begins.
5. Five of the six mentors will mentor two town-aligned players each, while the sixth mentor will mentor the scumteam. Each player will only know their mentor (and not the other player being mentored by them).
6. Town mentors may not guide their mentees towards townreading each other. If mentees come to townread each other naturally it is fine, but actively pushing your other mentee as town toes the line.
7. The list of mentor/mentee pairings will not be made public, and mentees are not allowed to claim their mentors.

EXAMPLE TOWN ROLE PM
Dear Fenrir,
You are a dog.
You're well-known as man's best friend, having been the first species to be domesticated. You come in all shapes and sizes as a result of selective breeding, and there's no telling where humanity would be without you. You have no special abilities.
Your role is Vanilla Townie.
You are aligned with the Animal Kingdom (Town). You win when all threats to the Animal Kingdom are eliminated and at least one Town-aligned player is still alive, or nothing can prevent the same.
